Broadfields United vs Harefield United (5/11/2022)
After a string of games on the road we are back at Tithe Farm this weekend as welcome our good friends from Harefield United. It will be the first meeting of the sides this season with Harefield currently finding themselves sitting midtable, five places ahead of us. #
Whenever the two sides meet it is always an exciting encounter as the players from both sides always seem to raise their game a level or two and I would expect much of the same to happen this weekend.
Ahead of the game this weekends fixture David Fox had these words to share; "The last few performances from the boys I have seen a vast improvement and although the results don’t currently show it, I am sure we are now back on the right path and the table will begin showing it shortly.
Chalfont away I thought we really turned a corner, we had some very good individual performances leading to an important 4-0 win. The only criticism I could have of the boys that day was that we didn't score more, hitting the woodwork a couple of times whilst also missing from the spot twice!
Ascot away was always going to be a tough one, no less so that we had to travel there on a Tuesday night. Although we were missing a number of players due to injury and travel issues we led our hosts until the last 10 minutes of the game and unfortunately their experience prevailed over our youth. I was very proud of the performance though in which we were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. Egham last Saturday too was another tricky test and it was another one where the experience shone through in the end. Playing the two preseason league favourite's away back to back was always going to be difficult but I felt the boys would have learnt a few things in those two games and we certainly gave both of those sides a tough test.
This weekend’s game marks the first of a good few home games this month and now is the time for the boys to start putting a string of results together by building on our last few performances. We need to be more aggressive in front of goal as we are creating countless chances each game but has been our finishing in front of goal that has been letting us down. Harefield will be no pushovers though and this will be another tough test for the boys."
