First Team v Hillingdon

The boys played their 3rd home game of the season against bogey team Hillingdon FC.  Broadfields started the brighter of the two teams with both flanks being dominated by debutant Sam Horan and Dene Gardner. 
It was not until the 25th minute were Gardner got in behind the full back and pulled the ball back for Billy Smiths third goal of the season from 5 yards out.
The lead was short lived when the talented Hillingdon striker picked the ball up from a diagonal ball from the right midfielder, found himself space in between the back four and found the bottom of the net with a 20 yard strike beating keeper Gary White. 
A few minutes later Smith found himself with his back to goal, swivelled and struck first time but the Hillingdon keeper pulled of an immense save to keep the scores level. 
Broadfields surged back up the other end and once again Gardner getting the better of the right back, in which he could only manage to clatter him inside the box but for some reason no penalty was given to the amusement of the away team and the 40 plus crowd watching.
Lacklustre defending in the Broadfields half then saw the Hillingdon striker put a free header wide of the post.  A let off for Broadfields.  Again, this time Smith found himself in the left side position, skipped round one man and took on the defender in the box and once again bought down but yet again referee Randall refused to give Broadfields another penalty.  We knew by this time it was not our day and getting any sort of the decision from the officials, were going to be slim. It remained 1-1 till half time.
Broadfields introduced Jorden Greaves at half time for the tiring Chris Hibbs who had an immediate impact.  Shortly after Hillingdon were award a soft free kick some 25 yards out and a well struck left footed effort beat the keeper to his right.  2-1 down and Broadfields had to pick the pace up again. 
Ryan Upton and Michael Underwood replaced Sam Horan and Liam Bird as Broadfields continued to press high, looking to get the ball forward as quickly as possible.  Chances were few and far between as Broadfields looked to get back in to the game. 
Hillingdon then took a 3-1 lead 15 minutes towards the end.  Broadfields pressed and pressed but a combination of bad referring and decision making from Broadfields saw the game finish 3-1.  Broadfields were awarded a penalty 5 minutes from the end but Jamie Moon put the ball wide.  The third penalty miss of the season!
A game for Broadfields to learn a lot from!  Credit to Hillingdon who played the game in good spirit and caused the Broadfields defence problems throughout.  They will take points of teams this season
