Fighting Cocks to Move to Combined Counties Football League Next Season

Following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season the FA confirmed the intended allocations for clubs at Step 5 & 6. With that Broadfields United have now been laterally moved across from the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division into the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North for the 2022/23 season.

We make the lateral move to our new division along with fellow local sides Harefield United and Oxhey Jets, whilst Flackwell Heath also make the move across to the CCFL PDN for the campaign. The move is intended to help reduce travel time and it means we will also reacquaint ourselves with some other local sides that departed the SSML at the back end of last campaign, Edgware Town, North Greenford United, Wembley. We will also meet recently promoted London Lions who convincing won their division last year.

A number of other sides in our new league that we played across various cup competitions last season include Holyport, Reading City and recently demoted Staines Town. The other sides completing the makeup of our new league include; Ascot United, Burnham, Chalfont St Peter, Egham Town, Spelthorne Sports, Virginia Water, Wallingford Town, Windsor, Wokingham & Emmbrook. We look forward to meeting some of these sides for the first time whilst playing some familiar faces again.

Sadly the lateral move does mean a departure from the Spartan South Midlands League after seven great and successful seasons for the club. During that period we saw a number of cup wins including the Spartan League Challenge Trophy, Middlesex Premier Cup (twice). Promotion the Step 5 for the first time and qualification for the FA Cup for the first time in our history.

We wish all the clubs that remain in the league all the very best for the future.
