South Park 1-2 Broadfields United

Broadfields United are into the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after defeating South Park in our FA Cup Replay. A terrific performance from all in a Broadfields shirt made it possible.

After a shaky opening couple of minutes we took an early lead though a Darren Brown goal. There were chances for both sides throughout the first half with both sides goalkeepers pulling off some fine saves. The closing stages of the half saw a few meaty challenges being put in from the home side which resulted in a number of bookings for them but it was Broadfields who went in at the break with a one goal advantage.

Early in the second half and just like the first South Park came out all guns blazing. Just 5 minutes into the half and the home side were awarded a penalty kick which seemed a very contentious decision with the Broadfields players up in arms. Alas the man in the middle had made his decision and the home side converted their spot kick sending Lincon the wrong way

Much like Saturday's game the home side were buoyed by their goal and were looking more and more lively, however a break down the right from Rico Clarke-Rowe where he pulled the ball back with a few of our forwards rushing towards the ball, instead it struck the South Park centre half who ended up putting the ball into his own net. A cruel way to concede, especially for the goalkeeper who had been fantastic over the two ties as he couldn't do anything to stop the ball going into the bottom corner of his net. An even crueller way as this was the goal to ultimately decide the tie.

In the dying embers of the game however Broadfields were still looking to add to their lead. A spectacular shot from Adrian Dubovecky from 40 yards looked to be going into the net before the home sides keeper again pulled off an unbelievable save, tipping the ball onto his crossbar and out for a corner.

The fulltime whistle saw mass celebrations from the away side. Every player deserves praise for how they performed that day, could not fault any of them.

Massive achievement for the club to reach the Emirates FA Cup Second Round Qualifying. It was a proud day for all connected to the club on a fine Tuesday evening.

Our reward for the result is another home tie where we will welcome more Step Four opposition, this time in the form of Sussex based, Hastings United.
